Are you Having the Holiday Blues this Year? No Need!

Odette

It’s finally that time of the year to be holly and jolly well, most of us are, but some could care less about it. They would instead jump into a hole and stay there until it’s all over. In my previous blog post, “Chapter 20: The Last Call” and “A Letter to December,” I expressed many things that will take place and a few things that we will love to happen. However, what about those who have the Holiday Blues. Oh Yes!!! We can’t leave them out on this December special can we now.

Sometimes I wonder why some persons have holiday blues. Then I think about it, and there are so many reasons why. In some cases you have:

1.       Stress

2.       Unrealistic Expectations

3.       Over Commercialized

4.       Financial stress

5.       Inability to be with family and friends

6.       Missing a lost one

7.       Bonus: Those Hallmark movies we are so obsessed with

I know I’ve experienced at least two of these sadly, but I refused to let these holiday blues consume me. I sure as hell don’t want them to consume you either. It’s not fun rather very depressing and boring!!! So, what would I suggest to you bloomers stuck with holiday blues? Let’s see.

1.       Me-time: treat yourself to a spa day and relax that body of yours

2.       Travel: this is a personal favorite. Travel to another country and spend your Christmas learning about a new culture

3.       Spend quality time with those you love: nothing wrong with just bonding with those close to you and making jokes all day and night long

4.       Create your own holiday tradition: allow new traditions to unfold.

5.       Just say “No” – if you don’t care for it don’t do it

I hope one of these helps you my “Holiday Blue Bloomer,” and if not, then just wrap yourself in a cozy blanket and have a bottle, not glass but a bottle of wine and enjoy your own company. Hopefully, that doesn’t make you emotional. I’m sure there are many other ways to get out of the holiday blues, but I really hope you find a way to get out of that funk.

What would you suggest to a fellow Bloomer who is going through the Holiday Blues?
