Season of Solitude

Odette

Winter is a season of recovery and Preparation.
— Paul Theroux

Hello, my beautiful Thorns and Roses, aka My Bloomers. I hope you aren't choosing violence; if you did, it's okay. We all have moments because I chose violence the other day at work. Listen to me. Don't let anyone take your kindness for weakness. Moving along. We are finally in the winter season (as of 22nd December), and so far, we have had one Cold-Front (in The Bahamas). When I think of "Winter," the first word that comes to mind is SOLITUDE! Which means "being alone or remote from society." Can you imagine what's to come next? Lets' get right into it. I promise not to ramble.

As the quote says, "winter is a season of recovery and preparation," a season to be in a place of solitude, to isolate yourself and meditate. It's about being in a position of hiding! So that you can "gather" yourself in every way possible, whether it may be: physically, emotionally, spiritually, or all of the above. Not to mention a time simply to be away from people. Stop giving so much of yourself to others and put that energy into yourself. Lastly, a season to "Rest to Progress." When I say "rest to progress," in short meaning, you can't pour out of an empty glass. You can't make proper strides, nor can you give your best when there's no rest or energy. Ensure you are well rested and your cup is full before filling up another.

But apart from resting during winter, it's a season of feeling a little puzzled and confused. A time when you may not feel the most joy but a little sadness while feeling the weight of the world on you. In my mini experiences of this season, I feel stagnated, but simultaneously am moving in slow motion. Sometimes, it's feeling overlooked or even overwhelmed in different aspects of your life: your personal relationships, work, career prosperity, wealth and money satisfaction, wellness, mental and physical strength, spirituality, and personal growth. Though this is happening, it's preparing you for the next season…can you guess what it is? Yes. Spring!

Side note : there is a transition phase, whereas you are semi-out of the "fall" season but stepping into "winter." That middle ground can begin to feel hectic, but once you realize what's happening, just take a deep breath and be grateful for the new season ahead. Nonetheless, everything during the winter may feel like it's going wrong, but things are starting to go right. I mean, truthfully speaking, "wisdom comes with winter" and many lessons. Give God thanks and praise in advance because the breakthrough is coming, and it's real. Hello SOMEBODY!!!! Like they say, when the praises go up, the blessings come down, and it's even better when you're praising Him, not knowing what He is about to do for you. Walk by Faith, not by Sight.

Anyway… Fall is about making space. Getting rid of dead weight and extra baggage, things that can't go with you in the next few seasons. Winter is about recovering from that and preparing to fill those spaces with "better improved" things. Therefore you can Spring forth and Bloom in the next. As a friend told me recently, "the minute you let go of that one leaf, you'll move on to the next season. They can't go where you are going." I was too damn shame, but they were right. I'll do Storytime on my channel about it.

One last thing before I go. Winter is viewed as a time of stillness and calmness. A time for everything to be on pause. Think of nature: it's cold outside, and the trees are dead and frozen. Animals either keep to themselves or simply cuddle with family to remain warm. The best part is that they are stuffed with food. Be one with nature!
