Trusting the Journey of Starting Over

Odette

If you pay attention to social media, it's easy to compare yourself to others, feel like you haven’t accomplished anything, and, worst of all, add unnecessary pressure by thinking you aren’t doing enough. This distraction can make us forget to take things one step at a time, especially with the goals or ambitions we've set for ourselves.

However, here's a reality check: Have you ever wondered how often those people had to start over to become what they present on social media? Not everything that glitters is gold. Most people don't share the struggles and setbacks they face behind closed doors. Unless you were with them on their journey, you wouldn't know the full story. And with that being said …

There's absolutely nothing wrong with starting over! Starting over can be a positive thing, especially when it feels like a divine intervention. Sometimes, we might feel a strong urge to reset everything, while other times, circumstances beyond our control force us to start anew. Don't let societal pressure make you feel like you're behind or need everything figured out right now. It's perfectly fine to take your time and start fresh when or wherever you need to.

In full transparency, I've had to start over recently, and it hasn't been easy. There are times when I feel overwhelmed and frustrated, but I'm still grateful for the opportunity to start anew. I do my best to take it one step at a time. I understand that age can make us feel like we're too old to start over, or fear can prevent us from hitting that reset button. But don't be afraid! God didn't give you a spirit of fear, so let go of that fear and pride. If you're worried about what others might think, keep it to yourself and just go for it. No one needs to know or be updated on why you made the decision. After all, this is a “Move in Silence” kind of season so…yeah!

The best part about starting over is that you get a clean slate. If you've hit rock bottom, it can only get better from there. My best advice is to embrace the process and include God in everything—finances, relationships, career, business, and even simple things like changing your wardrobe. Doing so can make your journey more fulfilling and guided – allow HIM to be a lamp to your feet and light to your path. Truth be told, I truly believe that as you start over, everything will begin to restore itself. This doesn’t mean you’ll get back exactly what you lost or decided to let go of, even if you didn't want to. Instead, something new may come to fruition, perhaps even better than what you had before. Even if it’s the same thing, it will come back differently! Again, this is all part of the process. Who doesn’t love a humble beginning that keeps us grounded and ten toes down at the end of it all? Continue to trust the process because whether we like it or not, We can make our plans, but the LORD determines our steps.

I don’t want you to feel afraid, nervous, overwhelmed, or pressured (and of course, I'm speaking to myself as well). I just want you to know that it’s okay, and everything is going to be okay. As you start over, things will realign, you will be restored, and doors will eventually open. You might make new friends, lose a few, or experience both. Just take comfort in knowing, that for the one-thousandth time, everything will be restored. Be still; all will be well.

Remember :

1. Embrace the Process: Focus on your journey and take things one step at a time. Don’t compare yourself to others on social media; everyone has unseen struggles. Trust that everything will realign in its own time.

2. Overcome Fear and Pride: It's never too late to start fresh. Let go of fear and pride, and don't worry about others' opinions. Move confidently and trust that new opportunities and relationships will come your way.

3. Include God in Every Step: Invite God into every aspect of your journey. His guidance will illuminate your path, and what comes next may be even better than before. Be still and know all will be well.
