Seize the Moment

Odette

About a month ago, I was in a minor car accident. It really took me by surprise—it felt like everything was going wrong once more. Just before it happened, my mind was racing with thoughts. I was contemplating taking a break and getting away for a while, planning a trip to the hair salon for the weekend, and reflecting on my relationships and life in general. I realized I wanted to get back to doing things that make me happy and start prioritizing myself. I don’t want to spend my life trying to please everyone else, paying bills, and leaving only the crumbs for myself. Time isn't on our side, and before you know it, five years have already passed. Then BOOM! The next thing I know, my car crashed into the vehicle in front of me. Naturally, a few choice words escaped my mouth—until I heard a soft, calm voice say, "Odette, calm down and carry on smartly... your car may be damaged, but you aren't hurt, and you're not dead." Amongst other things the soft voice said to me. And then it hit me...

Everything in this life is truly fleeting, and time is never on our side. In a matter of seconds, your life can be taken away in the blink of an eye. Yes, I know I’m stating the obvious, but when you really sit down and think about it, it hits differently. We try so hard to accomplish so many goals, work tirelessly to reach a certain number in our bank accounts, and strive to keep up with the latest trends and gadgets. Some of us waste time trying to be good enough in someone else’s eyes. But for what? To impress whom? At the end of the day, when our number gets called, none of these material things will matter. You can't take your money, gadgets, or achievements with you. They’ll be left behind, and what remains is the impact you’ve had on the lives of others.

People won't remember you for the latest car you drove, the trendy clothes you wore, or the size of your bank account. They will remember you for your kindness, your compassion, and the moments you shared with them. They’ll recall how you made them feel, the times you lent a helping hand, and the ways you made their lives a little brighter. Your legacy isn't built on material possessions but on the connections you make and the love you give. It’s about the memories you create with family and friends, the laughter you share, and the support you offer during tough times. In the end, the most valuable things in life are the relationships we nurture and the positive influence we have on others.

So, rather than focusing on accumulating more stuff or chasing superficial goals, maybe it's time to prioritize what really matters. Spend quality time with loved ones, pursue your passions, and strive to be a good person. Live in a way that, when you're gone, people will remember you not for what you had, but for who you were and how you made the world a better place.

Not to mention, don’t waste time dwelling on what "could have" or "should have" been. If there is something or someone you love, go after it. Once those opportunities pass, they are gone for good. Time is of the essence, so don’t sit around waiting. Seize the moment and make the most of every opportunity. Pursue your dreams, express your feelings, and take bold steps toward the life you want. Waiting for the perfect moment often leads to missed chances and regret. Embrace the present, act on your desires, and live without looking back.

…on that note, I suggest you all reading “Ecclesiastes 1 : Everything is Meaningless”. It’s a really good Bible chapter and we all know I love the book of Ecclesiastes so it’s only right!

K. Bye!!!
