A Letter from Me to You : Time
Odette
Hey you,
Are you surviving? Did you choose violence today? I hope you didn't. It takes too much energy and time. Speaking of which, how do you feel about time? You know how they say life is short and time is precious. Well, it's very accurate…especially the part about time. Time is going so fast, and we can't get it back once it's gone. We only have one life, one shot to enjoy the glorious days on earth, and it's the only thing we can never get back once it is gone.
I know you & I both spend our moments worrying and stressing about the next chapter, the next step, or the big WHAT IF. We can't help ourselves. It's the most human thing we do all the time. Trying to accomplish goals, living to just pay bills, and so many other things that life comes with. We get so caught up in life we forget to enjoy the little moments. One thing my mother always mentions to my sibling and me is to
I used to roll my eyes & sometimes I still do "lowkey" because all I ever think about is my personal matters. All the things I feel like I "have" to do because time is ticking. But it's true what they say; time has a funny way of showing us what really matters. It's not until we pause and look back and realize we wasted time stressing or focusing on "matters." Rather than letting life be life and just cherishing moments that won't come again.
Listen to me…my mom is correct and as I write this letter to you, take my mommy's advice. Life is short and time waits on no one. I do regret not cherishing certain moments when the time was there. Sometimes I even get emotional thinking about it & I'm sure some of you are the same way. So listen to this, and yes, I am talking to myself when I say this too. Don't waste your energy on choosing violence, don't waste your time on anyone or anything that isn't on the same train ride as you. DO NOT let these jobs & uncircumcised philistines stress you out. Instead, cherish the times spent with the people you love most, enjoy and live in the moment, and enjoy the cheat day you've had since you started that "diet" of yours. Life is short. We all have to go one day. Don't spend your days…jaded, angry, or waiting for the "one" thing to happen.
Time is precious. Make sure you spend it with the right people. Laugh a little more, cry a little less, share a smile, order some clothes ☺, express your "I love yous" & mean it, and attempt something off your bucket list. Time waits on no one.
Love,
Azalea
